Priests at the bronze altar
Also: Aaron's sons · The priests
PERSON:COURT_PRIESTS_AT_ALTAR
Two priests at the altar of burnt offering: one carrying a bowl up to it, one tending it from the far side.
About
Only the priests, Aaron's sons, served at the altar. When an Israelite brought a burnt offering, the priests presented its blood and sprinkled it around the altar, put fire on the altar, laid wood in order on the fire and arranged the pieces on the wood (Leviticus 1:5–9). The fire on the altar was to be kept burning and never go out; the priest added wood to it every morning (Leviticus 6:12–13). The altar had its own bronze basins, shovels, forks and fire pans (Exodus 27:3). The priests wear linen: tunic, sash, cap and linen breeches (Exodus 28:39–43). The bowl and the poses are the lab's illustration.

Scripture
5And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 6And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. 7And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire: 8And the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: 9But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
12And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. 13The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
39And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework. 40And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty. 41And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office. 42And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach: 43And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
