Bible LabsHelp: 3D
When the 3D labs don't show
The 3D labs draw with your computer's graphics chip (WebGL). If the page says your device can't run 3D, or the picture is very slow, hardware acceleration is usually turned off or the browser is out of date. Here is how to fix it, and what to use in the meantime.
Google Chrome
- Open the menu (⋮) and choose Settings.
- Choose System on the left.
- Turn on “Use graphics acceleration when available”.
- Press Relaunch, then open the lab again.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the menu (…) and choose Settings.
- Choose System and performance.
- Turn on “Use graphics acceleration when available”.
- Press Restart, then open the lab again.
Safari (Mac, iPhone, iPad)
- Safari always uses the graphics chip; there is no switch to turn on. If 3D does not run, Safari is usually too old.
- On a Mac: Apple menu → System Settings → General → Software Update.
- On an iPhone or iPad: Settings → General → Software Update.
- Low Power Mode can make the 3D slow; turn it off while you use a lab.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the menu (☰) and choose Settings.
- On the General page, scroll to Performance.
- Untick “Use recommended performance settings”, then tick “Use hardware acceleration when available”.
- Close Firefox completely, open it again, then open the lab.
Update the browser
- Chrome: menu (⋮) → Help → About Google Chrome. It updates itself; press Relaunch.
- Edge: menu (…) → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge.
- Firefox: menu (☰) → Help → About Firefox.
- Safari updates with the system (see above).
Check that it worked
Reload the lab after restarting the browser. In Chrome or Edge you can also open chrome://gpu (edge://gpu) and look for “WebGL: Hardware accelerated”.
In the meantime
Every 3D lab has a text version: the same guided tour, stop by stop, with the scripture for each stop. Many also have a 40-second video on the lab's page.
