Jerusalem in Nehemiah's day
Also: the city of David · Zion
The small walled city rebuilt under Nehemiah, where the returned exiles kept the feast in booths.
In the fifth century BC Jerusalem was a small city on the eastern ridge, with the rebuilt temple to the north. Nehemiah 8 describes booths on the roofs of houses, in courtyards, in the courts of God's house and in the open squares by the Water Gate and the Gate of Ephraim.
