Key facts
- The graph links people, places, events, objects, Hebrew and Greek words, passages, claims and lab views; each link says how two of them relate.
- Every node comes from a lab's own data, and every lab link opens that lab exactly where the node is shown.
- Places come from Pleiades and OpenBible.info, and family relations from Theographic Bible Metadata.
- Links that read one passage in the light of another are drawn dashed and labelled as interpretation.
- The address keeps the node you are looking at, so a link can be shared with the group.
- In class: start from this week's person or verse, follow two branches, and open one lab together.
Key verses
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.Luke 24:27 · King James Version
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.Acts 17:11 · King James Version
Talk about it
- Which connection did you not expect, and what does it show you?
- The Bereans checked what they heard against the Scriptures. How can we do that with what we read online?
- What is the difference between a link the text makes and a link we make when we interpret?
How sure can we be?
The Bible says
- Links that a passage states, such as a family relation or a place named in a verse, are marked as stated in the text.
Our reconstruction
- Each claim carries an evidence level: stated, strongly supported, plausible, speculative or artistic.
- The layout of the mind map is drawn by the computer; closeness on screen means nothing by itself.
Still debated
- Where readings differ, the explorer shows each one with its level and does not give a verdict.
